Scan5 is located at 4001 N Ravenswood Ave in Chicago. Our office is located on the 5th floor of a large 6 story building with a rich history - the former MANZ building.
Back in 1866, Jacob Manz kicked things off with a wood engraving biz called the J. Manz Engraving Company. Fast forward to 1908, and the company set up shop at 4001 N. Ravenswood Ave., right after teaming up with The Hollister Press. Business was booming—by 1922, it was known as the Manz Engraving Co. and had a crew of 500 to 600 people!
In 1925, they switched things up and rebranded as the Manz Corporation. Then in 1947, they moved into a sleek one-story factory. Things took a turn in 1961 when they were bought by Process Lithographers and renamed Process Manz Press Inc.—but sadly, they went bankrupt just a year later.
The story didn’t end there though! In 2008, the massive 76,800 square-foot building got a stylish makeover and found new life as modern office spaces. From engravings to entrepreneurs—it’s seen it all!
Scan5's Chicago office was created by combining two loft spaces into one larger space with multiple rooms. This creative environment is where we scan photos, digitize tapes like VHS, Hi8, and Mini DV, and scan 8mm film.
